Simple Speaker Tap Settings for the EX500D 100V Output

The SC-630TU speaker taps are marked for 70V operation. When connected to the EX500D 100V output, each tap uses approximately twice the printed wattage.

Recommended package setting: Set all six SC-630TU speakers to the printed 30W tap. On the EX500D 100V output, each speaker uses approximately 60W.

Golden Rule for the 100V Speaker System

Add the actual 100V wattage used by all connected speakers. The total speaker load must not exceed the amplifier’s maximum power rating.

EX500D: 500W × 80% = 400W recommended maximum load

Six SC-630TU speakers using approximately 60W each create a total system load of approximately 360W. This remains below the recommended 400W design load.

Six speakers × approximately 60W = approximately 360W total. The EX500D provides 500W, leaving approximately 140W of available amplifier capacity.

Basic 100V Speaker Wiring

  1. Connect the EX500D amplifier’s 100V and COM terminals to the first horn speaker.
  2. Continue the same two-conductor speaker cable from the first horn to the next speaker.
  3. Repeat the parallel connection until all six horn speakers are connected.
  4. Maintain the same wire polarity throughout the full speaker line.
  5. Set all six speakers to the printed 30W tap.
  6. Confirm the total system load is approximately 360W before switching on the amplifier.

Permanent outdoor speaker wiring and mounting should comply with applicable Canadian electrical, fire, building and structural requirements.
